I just adopted a dog from a shelter that had been returned because they said she escaped. I can totally see this. She has been with us 1 week and has not even tried to get out. She has a nice big yard to run in (which as a herder she needs), she has a companion, and she is and indoor/outdoor dog who gets a walk every morning. The only problem I do have with her is she nips. She is a blue heeler and finds it necessary to bite me. My arms are covered in bruises. I have gotten her to mellow on the biting, but she cannot help but want my hand in her mouth, especially when walking round the house. Sometimes she gets out of control and still wants to bite hard. I don't know how to handle this.

I have a friend who has a dog like this. Adopted from the Shelter. Happy had been returned again and again because he would 'escape.'
What can she do to find that holistic solution?
